The YES! GAM-EU, short for Youth Engagement Strategies and Gamification in the EU and better known as the GamifyEU finds its base in the gamification of educational methodologies and in creating new tools to educate young people about a vast range of topics regarding the EU!
The first platform that was developed (www.gamifyeu.org) in the scope of the project was testing out the knowledge of young people about European culture, history, politics and institutions. Each player has their avatar and has to go through 3 different timelines; the past, the present and the future. Landing in a dystopian future where the EU no longer exists and a complicated past where the EU wasn’t created yet, it allows young people to learn and be aware of the advantages the European Union provides in terms of mobility, monetary economy, labour and social relations between the countries.
Currently, a series of other platforms are being developed following different storylines, like following the life of an MEP in “MEP for a month”. Because of this initiative it will allow young people to feel closer to EU institutions and understand who represents us, how the work is managed and the challenges they face on a day to day basis.
