Welcoming the new YEU Fundraising & Project Officer and the new YEU Project Assistant.

This month the YEU office has welcomed the new YEU Fundraising & Project Officer, Luigi Briatore and the new YEU Project Assistant Alba Zecca.

In this article, we are thrilled to tell you more about their professional background and experiences.

By joining three Erasmus+ projects, Luigi Briatore has had the chance to  study and work in six different countries. After achieving a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations at the University of Bologna and spending a semester as an exchange student in Brno (Czech Republic), he has decided to broaden his personal and cultural heritage, moving to Beirut,  Lebanon, to volunteer for the Organization Terres des Hommes.

Afterwards, he has completed his Master degree in International Relations at the UCLouvain in Belgium where he has also had the opportunity to study for one semester at the University of Coimbra (Portugal) and work for a youth organization based in Lille (France). As international mobility has been crucial both for his personal and professional growth, Luigi is committed to make mobility more accessible and inclusive for all. His motivation drove him to work for a network of Erasmus alumni and to be a trainee at DG EAC where the Erasmus + program is conceived and managed. With his expertise in networking, fundraising and project management, Luigi is eager to start this new journey in YEU.

Alba, a 24-year-old from the south of Italy, has just graduated with a Master’s Degree from the University of Trento. Fluent in English, with a fair knowledge of French and German acquired during her Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistic and Cultural Mediation at the University for Foreigners of Siena.

Extremely dynamic and passionate about exploring different cultures and traditions, she spent a semester in Canada as an exchange student for the Master’s program in Political Science at the University of Calgary. Thanks to this extremely stimulating context, she was able to take part in numerous youth engagement initiatives in student organizations. Additionally, she has already lived in Brussels for an internship at the Italian-Belgian Chamber of Commerce, where she worked as a member of the EU Project Office.

She is deeply passionate about migration, owing to numerous volunteering experiences both in Italy and in refugee camps in Greece. These opportunities have not only broadened her perspective and curiosity about the migration phenomena but have also provided her with an opportunity to learn some basic Arabic by creating strong connections with people and other civil society organizations working in this field.

With her team-building capacity, communication skills, and particularly soft skills such as empathy, curiosity, and diligence, Alba is eager to contribute to YEU’s mission. Her time spent abroad has not only helped her develop a strong sense of independence and responsibility towards her goals but has also provided immersive experiences in diverse multicultural contexts from which she has consistently enjoyed and learned.
