Are you 18 and dreaming of exploring Europe?
The new DiscoverEU application round is open from 1 to 15 October 2026, with 40,000 travel passes available.
DiscoverEU is an Erasmus+ action that gives 18-year-olds the chance to travel across Europe, mainly by train and other sustainable means of transport. It is more than a trip. Participants discover Europe’s landscapes, cities and cultures, meet fellow travellers from across the continent, and grow more independent and confident while exploring what being European means to them.
Travellers can plan their own journey or follow one of the suggested routes. The Green Route focuses on climate-neutral and smart cities. The Cultural Route is designed for lovers of film, fashion, food, fine art and history.
Who can apply?
The call is open to young people born between 1 January 2008 and 30 June 2008 (both dates included). Applicants must be citizens or residents of one of the following:
- an EU Member State, including its outermost regions
- an Overseas Country or Territory associated with the EU
- Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia or Türkiye
How do you apply?
Applications are submitted on the European Youth Portal. You can apply alone or in a group of up to five people. Applicants answer a short quiz and share some details about their travel plans. Selected participants can travel at any time between 1 March 2027 and 31 May 2028.
Know someone who turns 18 this year? Share this opportunity with them! Official materials to help spread the word are available on the DiscoverEU communication page.
Europe is at your feet. Take your first step!
