FRI Organizes Its First Youth Exchange: Many Cultures — One Human Race

On February, 25 — March, 4, Foundation of Regional Initiatives held its first youth exchange “Many Cultures — One Human Race”. Organized within Erasmus+ program financed by European Commission, the project gathered 33 young people from 6 countries: Armenia, Italy, Jordan, France, Poland and Ukraine in Verkhovyna, Ukraine.

Members of the organization have been working on this project for a year with the view to enhancing intercultural dialogue and getting familiarized with the migration situation in the countries concerned.

During the week of non-formal education, the participants:

  • discussed the stereotypes of different nations and tried to confirm or refute them;
  • defined the term of migration and its types;
  • tried different cultural ways of perceiving the world;
  • understood the mindset of migrants and their dreams;
  • found the reasons of prejudices about other people;
  • had a lot of team building activities.

The organizers say that their biggest achievement is the network of people who have such different backgrounds and cultural attitudes. The reason is that thanks to this project, people became closer and launched their intercultural dialogue.

“The importance of the youth exchange lies within people who took part in it. We created a platform for youth to exchange their experience in the field of migration, eradicate stereotypes about other cultures and get understanding that diversity is not a disadvantage but a power”, — shares Olha Dobrova, the Head of International Department of FRI.

FRI thanks all of the partners who took a huge part in making this project real: Fundacja Zielony Słoń / Green Elephant Foundation (Poland), Parcours Le Monde Ile-de-France (France), International Center for Intercultural Research, Learning and Dialogue (Armenia), Youth Spirit Center – YSC (Jordan), and Associazione Vagamondo (Italy).

FRI sincerely hopes to continue the cooperation between the organizations in future projects!
