PM4I – Youth Ambassadors coming together online!

YEU hosted the second of two online sessions for the local Youth Ambassadors of our PM4I – “Place Making 4 Inclusion – reviving active citizenship for reshaping the societies” project on the 30th of June. The programme lasted for 1.5 hours and consisted of various intercultural activities based on non-formal education methodologies and centered around the topic of placemaking.

The online session started out with a virtual scavenger hunt in which participants – both partners and youth ambassadors in the project – had to find different objects depending on questions asked by YEU’s Fundraising and Project Officer, Tenna Sørensen Jochumsen.

The scavenger hunt was followed by a creative part in which participants were asked to co-design their ideal spaces in groups of 3-4 persons. The outcomes of this part were incredible with drawings and graphics showing the elements important for them in creating an inclusive and sustainable space in their local communities.

Lastly – and based on their ideal spaces -, the participants were given time in breakout rooms to discuss the challenges and opportunities in achieving the realization of the various elements depending on factors such as infrastructure in their local communities, legal regulations and cultural conditions.

The online session was a great moment for the partners and youth ambassadors coming from 6 different countries – including Germany, Belgium, Norway, Greece, Spain and Italy – to meet with and learn from each other.

The purpose of the project “Place Making 4 Inclusion – reviving active citizenship for reshaping the societies” is to empower youth work providers and youth organisations by using the placemaking methodology and practices to ensure social inclusion of young people of diverse backgrounds in jointly shaping the local communities. The next steps in the project are an upcoming training course, which will take place in Palermo, Italy, in October and a Youth Exchange in Brussels, Belgium in November.

We look forward to sharing more information about the PM4I project with you!
