ESTIA | Conference on “Youth Participation to Blockade Violence and Radicalisation” welcomed partners, speakers and participants in Brussels!

On the 4th of July, YEU hosted its international conference on “Youth Participation to Blockade Violence and Radicalisation” in Brussels, Belgium. The conference is the third out of four mobilities in the project ESTIA – “Preventing violent extremism and against radicalisation in Europe through Youth Empowerment and Work” with partners coming from Greece, Romania, Norway, Liechtenstein and Belgium.

The ESTIA Conference took place in Brussels’ Mundo B and welcomed different partners, speakers and participants with an interest in youth work and anti-radicalisation from a youth perspective. In the conference, we had the chance to hear more about youth radicalisation in a Belgian context from two guests providing a local perspective while also getting valuable input from speakers from diverse sectors covering topics and fields such as hate speech, youth inclusion and participation and from formal and non-formal education experts. A big thank you to all those who showed up – it was a pleasure to have you all there!

The ESTIA project aims to address youth radicalisation and its associated use of violence – an issue of concern that is present across Europe and its neighboring regions – by focusing on youth empowerment and youth work. It has done so through diverse activities such as an Youth Festival and NGO Exhibition as well as a Training Course aimed at building young people’s resilience against violent radicalisation – both having taken place in Romania and Norway earlier this year.

More than that, the ESTIA project will offer another opportunity to get more into the topic of youth radicalisation and its prevention through its upcoming training course in Thessaloniki, Greece. More information will follow soon!
