The REFLECT- Refugee-Led Exchanges for Learning, Empathy, and Critical Thinking – Bootcamp Training has officially come to an end, marking an important milestone in preparing the project team for the next phase of activities.
As part of the preparation for the upcoming virtual exchanges and webinars, each of the seven project partners selected three facilitators to take part in the Bootcamp. The training was designed to equip these facilitators with the knowledge, tools and practical skills needed to lead safe, inclusive and engaging online activities with diverse groups of young people.
Throughout the month of July, the selected facilitators participated in a series of six interactive training sessions, delivered by our PET Co-Coordinator Srdjan Petkovic, with the support of our Junior PET Member Janana Ahmadli.
The Bootcamp covered a wide range of topics relevant to virtual facilitation, including inclusive facilitation techniques, trauma-informed approaches, managing sensitive discussions, conflict resolution in virtual settings, as well as the effective use of digital tools such as Zoom, Padlet, Mentimeter and Jamboard.
Beyond gaining theoretical knowledge, participants had the opportunity to actively practise their facilitation skills, exchange experiences and learn from one another. The training also helped facilitators build the confidence and competences needed to create meaningful and participatory online spaces.
With the completion of the Bootcamp, the 21 trained facilitators from the seven partner organisations are now prepared to support the upcoming virtual exchanges and webinars. Their role will be particularly important in creating safe and inclusive spaces that bring together refugees and young people from conflict-affected regions in Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa, fostering intercultural dialogue, mutual understanding and active participation.
Stay tuned as the REFLECT virtual exchanges hosted by our newly trained facilitators begin!
