SIT has been working with youngsters from the municipalities of Fushë Kosova, Kamenica, South Mitrovica, and North Mitrovica for one and a half year now, aiming to strengthening resilience to conflict in the project targeted communities through working with youth.
Youth involved in this project are of Albanian and Serb communities living in the targeted municipalities.
Their age is 16-25 and they are partaking in several activities including in-person meetings, online joint meetings, online workshops, and this will be concluded with a joint youth camp where all of them will be part of interactive workshops for 2 days. The topics they discuss are related to resolving conflict, building peace and dialogue, building a healthy community, advocacy, inclusion, and the like.
There are more than 60 youngsters who have benefited from this project since early 2020, and it has shown a great improvement in the life in joint communities thanks to community-based initiatives project beneficiaries have been part of during the implementation period of this project.
Several families have benefited from these initiatives including hygienic and protective materials during the COVID-19 period.
During this stage of the project, schools from targeted municipalities will be equipped with electronic equipment to enhance the teaching and learning process, whereas the targeted municipalities will be supported with up to 12.000€ projects which strengthen social cohesion, communities’ cooperation, and better social interaction between all communities living in the targeted municipalities.
This project is in its third stage of implementation and is expected to have other following stages as well.
