Training for Trainers: Developing The Capacity of Youth Workers in Human Rights Education

“Training for Trainers: Developing The Capacity of Youth Workers in Human Rights Education” was a training course (TC) that took place in Tolo (Greece) from the 1st to the 7th of April 2013. The project, which was supported by the European Youth Foundation, gathered 27 beginner trainers from YEU’s pool of People for Education and Training (PET) and youth workers from YEU Member Organisations and aimed to develop the capacities of the participants on Human Rights Education (HRE) and Non-Formal Education (NFE).

Throughout the training, the participants were presented with several tools concerning the 3 generations of Human Rights, and with this information, were able to discuss the levels of human rights violations in different countries and regions, also relating them to their local realities. Additionally, the participants got to increase their knowledge on NFE and, specifically, on preparing and facilitating NFE activities and improving their skills on how to use the existing publications and NFE tools of human rights education. The participants actively engaged in all activities and played an active role throughout the whole event: they cooperated, brain- stormed and created 5 educational activities which they delivered to the other participants. Moreover, this TC had an added value for the YEU network, since it advanced the quality of the training courses delivered by the PET, but also the growth of the member organisations.
