On the 17th and 18th of May YEU virtually hosted the kick-off meeting of WeMusic – Wide Music Education Network promoting international cooperation among youth for social inclusion, active citizenship and creating job opportunities. The project is funded by the Erasmus+ Programme “capacity building in the field of youth” and lasts 24 months: it aims at fostering international cooperation among partner and programme countries, non-formal education activities and entrepreneurial skills for young people in the music sector.
Covid-19 was – and partially still is – an extremely difficult period, especially for young people. Music sector was also particularly hit by the outbreak. The idea of the project is to concentrate on the music sector as a field of intervention, in order to promote international cooperation, to support entrepreneurship, skills development and the sharing of know-how among young people. Music is also a way for young people to express themselves, their talent and their emotions and Wemusic will give them this opportunity.
The project gathers 6 partners from six different countries: ArtLab from Palestine, Bodrum Dance Club – Youth, Culture and Art Center from Turkey, Cerebra from Bosnia Herzegovina, Cultural Club Ali Belhouane from Tunisia, Labirinto Social Cooperative from Italy, and YEU from Belgium. WEMusic project will give the chance to 120 young people (20 per country) to join an international network of young musicians: they will take part in focus groups, training courses, and they will get access to the WEMusic online platform. Also, they will participate in mobility programs to Turkey and Tunisia, and in a final event in the Unesco City of Music, Pesaro (Italy), where they will perform on stage.
Soon the selection of participants will be opened and published, as the first activities will be starting soon. Keep following our news on the website and our social media channels. WEMusic has started and is waiting for you: let the show begin!
