WEMusic project has almost reached its end!
WeMusic – Wide Music Education Network promoting international cooperation among youth for social inclusion, active citizenship and creating job opportunities. The project is funded by the Erasmus+ Programme “capacity building in the field of youth” and lasts 24 months: it aims at fostering international cooperation among partner and programme countries, non-formal education activities and entrepreneurial skills for young people in the music sector.
WEMusic project has given the chance to many young people from 6 countries (Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Palestine, Tunisia and Turkiye) to join an international network of young musicians. They took part in focus groups, training courses, and they got access to the WEMusic online platform. Also, they participated in mobility programs to Bodrum, Turkey and Hammamet, Tunisia in the past period.
Eventually, the final event took place between 23rd and 26th of October in Pesaro, Italy at the Unesco City of Music, where the participants performed on stage.
For the first day with the partners we had the chance to meet Pesaro’s local authorities. Which is the Italian Capital of Culture 2024 as well as the city of music. We were able to present the project to the local decision makers and to the journalists present.
With the participants and musicians of this last event, the whole team went to visit the magnificent town of Urbino on the second day. In the evening, our participants and the partners were welcomed by a cafe&bar where all our participants from partner countries were able to launch into a jam session. The participants left themselves to the melodies of the tunes and made music together with the locals of the city.
The third day, they visited the city’s museums, including the “Sonosfera”, a theater for deep listening to ecosystems and music, a structure unique in the world that has taken shape in Pesaro, the UNESCO Creative City of Music before their performances.
The Wemusic fest was the project’s festival, held in an old church in Pesaro, where young people from all the partner countries were able to sing or play their instruments. A body percussion session was also held to kick off the festivities. It was a superb event to mark the end of the project. Music is also a way for young people to express themselves, their talent and their emotions. And WEMusic has given the youngsters this opportunity!
While everything was going well, the only thing that upset us was that our Palestinian participants could not join us due to the current situation. We would have been completely complete with them, but circumstances did not allow it. Luckily, the project coordinator was able to join us on behalf of the Palestinian organisation.
The partners, who came together after a long time, held a meeting to evaluate the progress of the project so far and discuss the next stages of the project.
Currently the consortium is working on the policy recommendations and the impact assessment of the project. We still have a way to go!
