BICYCLE BIKE ROUTES 4&5 on the 6th of September

BICYCLE – BIcycle Culture as Youth’s Civic and Sustainable Empowerment is an Erasmus+ project exploring how cycling can connect young people with local, regional, and European policies, while fostering sustainability, active citizenship, and community engagement.

As part of the BICYCLE Project, YEU, in collaboration with ESN ULB Brussels, organised the 4th and 6th editions of the Bike Routes activity on Sunday, 6 September. The activity aims at bringing people together. Two groups of young people gathered for a day of cycling, discovery, and intercultural exchange in Brussels. Through an informal cycling experience, participants had the opportunity to meet others, explore the city, and reflect on how everyday journeys by bike connect us to our communities, our cities, and the policies that shape them.

The activities took place in two sessions, with one group cycling through the city in the morning and another joining in the afternoon. Throughout the rides, participants had the opportunity to discover some of Brussels’ iconic landmarks, enjoy the city’s outdoor spaces and, most importantly, connect with one another. The activity created a welcoming space for young people from different backgrounds to exchange experiences, share conversations and build new friendships.

Both cycling routes concluded at Parc du Cinquantenaire, where participants came together for a relaxed picnic. The gathering offered a chance to continue the conversations, get to know each other better and enjoy the afternoon together.

We would like to thank all the young people who took part and contributed their energy, openness and enthusiasm to making the activity a memorable experience. Their participation and engagement continue to make the BICYCLE Project a valuable space for connection, active participation and intercultural exchange.
